WWII Maker-Marked Naval Dagger W/Scabbard & Portapee, Probable Museum-Quality Reproduction. Stock # SP COMM. Here is the story on this dagger – we bought the dagger in good faith, believing it to be original (we have bought and sold many German daggers in our store, and this one looked good to us), and we subsequently sold it to a very good Customer (for ALOT of money!) who is a long time Collector, and we respect his knowledge. This Gentleman and his learned Collector buddies examined the dagger closely, and pronounced it a fake, mostly because of the detail on the eagle and swastika, and the fittings - the portapee is, however(they say), genuine, and as such, worth several hundred dollars! As we stand behind our merchandise, we refunded him the money and we are now offering the dagger for sale as a Museum-Grade reproduction, but we have to say, if this is a fake, it is the best fake we have EVER seen! Let us be clear, this is not the Pakastani-made junk you see out there, the dagger is maker-marked E.F. Horster, and we would be not at all surprised if Horster made this Post-War for the burgeoning Collector market. The dagger looks great, heavy metal construction, engraved blade, gold-wrapped white porcelain (?) hndle, and the aforementioned portapee. The portapee has a tear in it, otherwise the dagger rates 95% condition. In the off-chance that the dagger IS, in fact, original, well, this is a steal at this price! Vintage (Vietnam ?) Randall # 14 Knife W/ Black Johnson Roughback Sheath. Stock # SP COMM. This vintage Randall-Made # 14 “Attack” knife has some attributes of the Vietnam-Era Randall knives, and it may possibly date to that period (although it is probably somewhat later post-Vietnam), making it a very collectible knife! The knife has a carbon steel 7 & ½” blade. The blade has a noticeable “hump” on it, which the Vietnam knives had. The knife has a brads guard, and a black Micarta handle. The knife has a well-used black leather Johnson Roughback sheath. The knife has certainly been carried and used, there are scruff marks on the blade, and the brass guard is tarnished somewhat, the handle is in good condition, it does not have the paracord tie. . Overall, we would rate the knife at 9o%. The black Randall-marked Johnson Roughback sheath is well-used, with a well-used thin paracord, and the stone is well-used also. The sheath has smooth snaps, and the stitching is all intact, but the leather has certainly seen a lot of use. This knife certainly has the look of “being there and doing that,” and if it was in Vietnam, well……either way, it’s certainly a great collectible Randall # 14! WWII Collins # 18 Legitimas Fighting Knife. Stock # SP COMM. This Collins Legitimas #18 Fighting Knife has a lot of character, it looks like iit really has “been there and done that”! We believe this to be the Third Model Legitimus Knife. Marked “Collins Legitimus #18” with the Collins logo on the left side of the ricasso, the knife has a 9 & ½” blade and is 14” in overall length. The knife has a carbon steel clip-point heavy Bowie blade that has been sharpened, it has a black Bakelite handle and a brass guard. This is a very heavy fighting knife. Overall condition of the knife is pretty good, but it really does look like the knife has seen some action, there is freckling on the blade, and both the blade and guard have some patina, and there is wear on the handle. Overall condition of the knife is about 85%. We do not have the sheath for this knife. This is a heavy WWII fighting knife that must have been a scary thing to behold when it was wielded by a Marine or Army guy in combat! . Randall # 1 Knife, 8” Blade, Stag Grips, W/Sheath. Stock # SP COMM. The Randall # 1 “All-Purpose Fighting Knife” earned it’s fame in WWII, and certainly saw lots of combat action in Vietnam as well. This beautiful specimen is a fairly new #1, with the optional 8” carbon steel barrel, red, white, and blue spacers, and an absolutely stunning stag grip with no butt cap. The pistol has a smooth-back Randall brown leather sheath with Randall-made snaps, and a red India stone. As with all Randall-Made knives, it is hand-made from the ground-up. Condition of both knife and sheath is as-new, 98%. The Randall #1 is the most desirable Randall fighting knife for Collectors, and if you are actually going to use it, you will not find a better constructed fighting knife anywhere. Randall # 15 “Airman” Knife W/Sheath. Stock # SP COMM. In as-new condition, this is a Randall-Made # 15 “Airman” knife, with Randall leather sheath and sharpening stone. The Model 15 is essentially a scaled-down version of the Randall #14 “Attack” knife. The 3 15 was designed by Randall in conjunction with the US Marine Corps Equipment Board for air crew support and combat purposes. Many of these knives were carried by Servicemen of all branches of the Military in the Vietnam War. The knife has a 5 & ½” blade, with the top cutting edge sharpened, and a 4 & ½” black Micarta handle with finger grooves. The brown leather sheath is Randall-marked, with Randall-marked snaps, and an orange sharpening stone. Both knife and sheath come with lengths of green parachute cord attached. The knife and sheath appear to never have been used, that means condition of both is 98%+. This is a collectible Randall-Made knife, offered at a good price. Randall # 15 “Airman” Knife & Sheath, Named! Stock # SP COMM. This vintage Randall # 15 knife has some very collectible attributes that we will discuss in a moment. The Model 15 “Airman” Knife was designed by Randall in cooperation with the US Marine Corps Equipment Board for use as a survival knife fir air crewmen. In actual practice, the knife was also carried and used by ground troops in all branches of the US Military during Vietnam, and in later conflicts. The knife has a 5 & ½” blade made from heavy stock, the blade on this knifed is marked “S” by the Randall-Made logo, indicating it is stainless steel. The handle is black Micarta, and it is the Single Finger Grip handle, whih is a special-order extra on this model knife. The brown leather Randall factory sheath is a Johnson roughback with an orange stone. OK, now for the collectible attributes – of course, ANY Randall-Made knife is collectible, but this Model 15 has 2 great things, first the sheath has a GI pistol belt hook added to it….interesting! Secondly, and even better, the right side of the blade is marked “M.G. BRENT,” who was the person who ordered the knife – if you research this name and Mr. Brent turns out to be a US GI (Marine, Airman, Sailor, etc), well that would add a lot of value to the knife. While the knife and sheath are in excellent condition, you can tell that they have “been there and done that,” the sheath, especially, shows signs of being used, there is slight tarnishing under the strap, and the stone has been used. The sheath rates 95% condition. The knife itself rates 96%, with just slight discoloration on the brass guard. This is a great Randall knife that will fit nicely into a good collection. Randall # 14 “Attack” Knife & Sheath W/Factory Letter of Authentication, Walnut Grip. Stock # SP COMM. This Randall # 14 “Attack” knife has a specially-ordered walnut grip, and it comes with a Randall Letter of Authentication, signed by Perry Miller, the Raldall Company Historian. The letter certifies that the knife is an early model 14 with a 7 & ½” carbon steel blade with a cut down tang. The knife dates to the Mid-1980’s. It has a walnut SFG (“single finger groove”) walnut stock, a double brass guard, and a brass butt plate. The stock is a Johnson Roughback. The letter grades the knife and sheath at very good condition, and we certainly concour. The sheath does show minimal use where the knife has been stored in it. We need to add that the walnut, single finger groove handle has some of the finest grained wood we have ever seen, this is just a beautiful knife! Obviously, the Randall Letter adds value to this already very collectible knife, and we believe this is a knife that will continue to increase in value over time, and it certainly will be one of the gems of your collection! Magnificent Antique Solid Ivory Swagger Stick/Dagger. Stock # SP COMM. This antique swagger stick/dagger dates to the 1800’s and it is solid genuine ivory with silver fittings (due to the age, it is legal to own this item). The swagger stick is 18” in overall length, and it contains a 14” triangular Damascus blade. We believe, but cannot cinfirm, that this dagger came out of India and probably was used as a swagger stick by a British Colonial Officer. The sheath is solid ivory, not hollow, thus adding more value to the item. The ivory has aged to a fine yellow in spots, and there is a noticeable crack on both the dagger handle and stem, also, the silver fittings are somewhat loose. WWII US Army Signal Corps Knife With Leather Sheath, Colonial Mfg. Stock # SP COMM. This Colonial made US Army Signal Corps “pocket knife” is all original and comes with the correct brown leather belt sheath. Looking somewhat like a huge jackknife, the knife has a 6” handle with black Bakelite plastic grips, and a 4 & ¼” semi-clip-point blade marked ‘COLONIAL, PROVIDENCE RI”. The blade is carbon steel. There is a second, smaller blade, but we can’t get it out. The blade is pretty stiff and hard to open, but some gun oil and TLC should fix that. Condition of the knife is 80%, there is freckling on the blade. The original leather belt sling is in pretty good shape (85%). It fastens with brass rivets, and is marked “ POUCH, TYPE CS-34 SIGNAL CORPS US ARMY”. WW2 German Naval Dagger With Portapee Rare Eickhorn! This is an ORIGINAL WW2 German Naval Dagger in excellent unaltered condition. Jacksonarmorypower! Comes with the silver portapee. The portapee was only issued to those that had gone to sea. It was made by Eickhorn in Solingen, Germany. NO abuse, No retraining, No nicks, some good feathering is easily seen from final polish from factory, some light carbon spots on a few areas. The portapee has some wear marks and some broken strands. Handle is original and in very good shape. blade is app 9 3/4” long, blade anda 5 ¼” handle. Approximately 15” overall, in sheath 16 ½” overall.The blade is marked with the "Original" Carl Eickhorn. The dagger is also marked with the manufacturers Squirrel with a sword logo etched into the blade. Well detailed eagle/swastika pommel. The naval fouled anchor crossguard with the larger quillon block and Gilded brass hilt fittings. The pommel is in excellent condition. The off-white grip is unaltered. Complete with tight twisted brass wire wrap. This dagger is 100% original in unaltered condition. The portapee has some wear marks and some broken strands. Handle is original and in very good shape. Civil War Era Antique Bone Handle Side Knife. Marked HAxxx Cutlery Company (we cannot decipher the name of the company) this is a Civil-War era side knife with bone or possibly ivory handles. The knife is crudely made, and has seen a lot of use. The knife is 7.5” in overall length with a blade length of 3.5”. One of the handles is broken and the bottom piece near the rivet is misxsing. The blade is heavily pitted and blood etched with several rust spots, and it has been sharpened, possibly fairly recently. We cannot positively date this knife, but it is quite old, and no doubt has had an interesting history! . French Klingenthal Sword and Scabbard, March 1825, US Civil War Use?? . Stock # SP COMM. Made by the French Klingenthal Arsenal near Strausbourg, this sword is dated March, 1825, and marked, in the French fashion, on top of the blade. The sword has French proofs of the period on the ricasso, and both the sword (on the hilt) and scabbard are marked “7 RA 3. 61” (7’th Regiment Artillery, 3’rd company, sword # 61 ???). It is interesting to note the scabbard originally had another unit mark above this, the earlier mark has been peened out. The sword has a 30” curved blade with deep fullers, and it is just over 35 & ½” in overall length. The sword has seen a lot of use, and that is reflected in the condition. The scabbard and sword hilt have lots of surface rust and heavy freckling and patina. Most of the leather grip remains, although there is about a 1” gap missing on the left side, and most of the wrap is gone. The blade is in much better condition, some spots of freckling and what looks like blood pitting, all markings and proofs remain crisp and legible. As an interesting aside, the individual we purchased the sword from stated it was “found in a barn in rural East Texas”………yeah, we’ve all heard these stories, but it is a fact that lots of European swords were imported to supply the Confederacy, and there is always the POSSIBILITY that this sword saw Confederate use, who knows? What we do know is this is a collectible vintage French Military sword that has not been messed with in any way, and it will be a good addition to your collection. WWII Japanese Cavalry Sword W/Scabbard. Stock # SP COMM. Serial # 681xx. Used by the Japanese Cavalry before and during WWII, JUST ABOUT AS MANY OF THESE Cavalry swords were brought home by GI’s as were the “Samuari” swords, these swords just don’t have the mystique (or cost!) of the Samauri-style swords. The sword has a 32” slightly tapered blade with a long fuller, and it is 38” in overall length. The sword is serial numbered on the ricasso, the scabbard is not serial numbered. The sword is in very good (95%) condition with no issues, and exhibiting minor wear on the blade, and quite a bit of wear on the handle. US Model 1873 Indian Wars Pattern Officers Sword W/Scabbard and Portapee. Stock # SP COMM. This US Model 1873 Officer’s Sword falls in the Indian Wars time period. There are no markings on the ricasso, so we don’t know who the maker was, but the sword is quite ornate with scrollwork, American Eagle, Stars, etc on the brass guard, pommel, and the sash loops on the scabbard. This sword is sort of an enigma, as the portapee is gold bullion – which was only used by General Officers, but most Generals carried a Staff and Field Sword, so who knows, but it certainly makes this an interesting piece. The portapee, by the way, has identical wear as that of the sword itself, lending credence that the portapee was not a later addition. The sword itself is in overall about 80% condition. The 34” slightly curved blade is straight, but there are noticeable rust spots. The leather wrapped grip has lots of wear, especially on the left side, but the wire wrap remains tight and intact. The brass is tarnished and has acquired a nice patina. The portapee is dark and worn. The scabbard is straight, but it has a lot of freckling. Overall, this is a nice Indian Wars Pattern sword that should fill that spot in your collection. Rare Sheble & Fisher 1840 Model Civil War Artillery Sword W/ Scabbard. Stock # SP COMM. Per the definitive US Military sword reference, “The American Sword” by Harold Peterson, the sword-manufacturing firm of Sheble & Fisher operated in Philadelphia, only between the years 1861-1864, and thus, it’s pretty much a sure bet this Artillery sword saw action in the Civil War, probably by the Yankees, although we acquired the sword here in Texas, so who knows, it may have been captured and used by the Confederates, so who knows? Additionally it is noted in “Civil War Cavalry & Artillery Swords” by Thillman, P 403, that Sheble & Fisher had a US government contract for 203 Artillery Swords in 1861, and it states that surviving examples are scarfce. The sword has obviously seen a lot of action, the curved 32” blade has some minor damage near the tip of the blade, and there is lots of freckling and possible minor blood etching on the blade as well. The left side of the ricasso is marked “Sheble & Fisher, Phila” with no markings on the right side. The brass guard and pommel have acquired a nice patina, but no damage. The grip still has the wire wrap, but about 99% of the leather is gone, and the wood is cracked on both sides. The scabbard is pretty good, a bit of patina and freckling, but no dents, and both rings remain, however the throat is missing. There are a few dollops of red paint on the scabbard, and these should be easy to remove. This sword is not “pretty,” but it has a lot of character, and it certainly has “been there and done that” during the Civil War, and now it needs a home in a good collection. French Model 1845 Officer’s Sword & Scabbard. Stock # DJ COMM. Made in 1902, this is the French Model 1845 Officer’s sword, with scabbard. The sword has the normal French markings on the top of the blade. This pattern sword was copied extensively, and was a favorite (the clones thereof, that is) pattern officer’s sword in the US Civil War. The sword is in really nice condition, the deeply-fullered blade has some minor freckling and possible minor blood etching, but it is straight and shiny. The magnificent brass guard is in great condition, and both the brown leather grip and gold-colored wrap are excellent. The scabbard is straight with no dings, although it exhibits considerable freckling. Overall, the sword is in about 90-95% condition. This sword will display well, and you can even use it as a sort of filler piece for your Civil War collection until you can upgrade to an Ames, or other sword. Civil War Ames 1865 US Noncommissioned Officer Sword. Stock # SP COMM. As referenced in ‘The American Sword” by Peterson, page 13, this is a Noncommissioned Officer’s Sword, Model 1840. The sword is marked “Ames” on one side of the ricasso, and “US 1865” on the other side (the Ames marking is faint). The sword’s scabbard is missing, but the blade is straight, and although there is quite a bit of freckling on the blade, there is no rust. The all brass handle has one small spot of tarnish on the guard. Part of the guard is bent, and this leads one to speculate that the sword may have sustained some sort of battle damage, possibly from artillery? Who knows, but this sword was found here in Texas, so there is the possibility that some Johnny Reb, through whatever means, “liberated” this sword from a Yankee Sergeant and used it himself? Great story, anyway! At any rate, with the 1865 date is is a really good bet that this sword saw Civil War action somewhere. US Air Force Academy Cadet Dress Sword. Stock # SP COMM. Rarely seen for sale on the Civilian market, this is a genuine US Air Force Academy Sword, worn on dress occasions by Academy Cadets. The sword has a 30” pointed blade with wings in the center where it is also engraved “US AIR FORCE ACADEMY.” The sword features the Air Force emblem on the guard, the guard arms are Falcons, and the pommel is a globe. The handle is all metal. The sword is not maker-marked, and there is no name on the blade, only the aforementioned marking. The sword and scabbard are in very good condition, both are straight, and there is very minor freckling on the scabbard, and some slight discoloration at the tip of the blade, but overall, condition is about 95%. The sword is in very good shape, the grip, which resembled sharkskin, is really nice, and the gold-colored wire wrap is intact. The guard, pommel and also all metal areas of the leather scabbard are made of brass, and all have tarnished. The engraved , un-named blade is shiny. The leather scabbard, with the aforementioned brass fittings, is in really good condition. British Parade Dress Sword, Edward VII 1909. Manufactured by the famous British swordmaker firm Mole, this is an Edward VII era (1909) parade dress sword with original scabbard. The sword is in very good condition overall, the blade is straight with no rust, and the grip and scabbard are nice as well. All correct markings are on both sides of the ricasso. US Navy Officer’s Sword With Scabbard. This is a regulation US Navy Officer’s Sword, probably circa WWI-WWII era. The sword blade is engraved with scrollwork, and also engraved “USN” There is no name on the blade. The ricasso is marked: “ Pasquale, San Francisco.” These swords were (and still are) private purchase, and they have been made by many different makers. The sword grip is in great shape, we believe it to be white sharkskin with gold wrap. The guard itself has “USN” on it, and it has tarnished to a very nice patina. The bayonet is faintly marked “U.S.” on one side of the ricasso, and “1895” on the other side (also faint). The bayonet is shiny with deep fullers, it has very mild freckling. Chassepot Model 1866 Bayonet, France WWI. Stock # SP COMM. Serial # R91xxx (Serial # on the bayonet only). This French Model 1866 Bayonet fits the Chassepot rifle that was used before and during WWI. The bayonet is in NRA Relic (battlefield pick-up) condition, with a very rusty scabbard, and a heavily freckled, but straight blade. It is of note that the scabbard does not have a visible serial number, and the French markings on top of the blade are obscured. The Yhatagan (sp?)-style blade is 22& ½” long, and overall length is 27”. Crusty as the bayonet is, the catch still works, so you can actually attach it to your Chassepot rifle. This is a bayonet that has “been there and done that,” and it will display nicely in it’s as-found condition, and it also could be cleaned up and made to look new, if you wanted to spend the time doing that. Later-Type US Military Trapdoor Springfield Bayonet, Scabbard, and Frog. Stock # SP COMM. In great condition, this is an original bayonet, scabbard, and frog for the US Model 1873 “Trapdoor” Springfield Rifle. This is the later-type frog, with a brass “US”-marked belt hook. The bayonet is “US” marked as well, there are no other markings anywhere on the bayonet, scabbard, or frog. The leather on the frog is still fairly supple with no cracks or tears, the “US” belt hook is tarnished, but otherwise in good condition. There is quite a bit of freckling on the scabbard, but no dings or dents. The bayonet itself has a 95% finish, it’s very nice. Overall condition of bayonet, scabbard and frog is 85-90%. This bayonet will really dress up your Trapdoor rifle, and it certainly will add value to it as well! US Miliitary Early-Type Trapdoor Springfield Bayonet, Sheath, & Frog. Stock # SP COMM. This early type bayonet for the US Model 1873 “Trapdoor” Springfield rifle is complete with the scabbard and leather frog. The leather frog is in great condition with one notable spot of wear on the top front, but no tears in the leather. The front has the US oval in brass, and it is marked “A. I. Unique WWII 98K Bayonet W/ Scabbard & Frog, GI War Trophy. Stock # SP Comm. Serial # 49xx. This K98 bayonet comes with a non-matching scabbard and the correct (non-marked) leather frog. The bayonet is maker-marked 43 cvl, and is in very good condition, with a straight blade, and about 85% of the blue finish remaining on the blade. The unique thing on this bayonet are the grips, which have been replaced with heavy Lucite (probably cut from an aircraft cockpit) and below the lucite on both sides are the flags of the USA, France and Russia. RIA 1918 03 Springfield/M1 Garand Cut Down for WWII Use. Bayonet # X-4. This collectible bayonet was made by Rock Island Arsenal (R.I.A.) in 1918 for WWI, and was later cut down to a 10” length for WWII re-issue to use on the M1-Garand rifle. The ricasso is marked “RIA 1910” with a US Ordinance “flaming bomb” on one side, and is marked “US 181121” on the opposite side. The OD green scabbard also has US Ordinance Department markings.
