| RARE Antique Remington 1890 .45 Revolver. Stock # 9CSP. Serial # 5xx. The barrel on this Remington 1890 revolver appears to have been cut to 5 & 1/2” and the original hard rubber ‘RA” marked grips have been replaced with wooden ones, otherwise this rare revolver is in great shape, and highly collectible. Chambered for .45 C.F. W. (.45 center fire), the pistol still has the original military-issue lanyard loop on the butt. All of the original finish is gone, and the gun is “in the white’ however there is no major pitting, although there is quite a bit of freckling, especially on the right side of the receiver, and also some scratching here and there, most notably a small scratch on the right side of the receiver. These wear marks in no way detract from the appearance of the gun, and in fact, they reflect it’s character. The wooden replacement grips look good, they have aged a bit over the years, and someone has carved thesmall initials “EM” on the right grip. The bore is good, and the action has 4 cocks, although it sometimes does not stay cocked. Remingtons were used a lot in the “Wild West” as well as by the military, and if John Wayne had used one instead of a Colt Single Action, these guns would be worth a lot more nowadays, however the true collector will realize the scarcity and historical significance of this great Remington revolver.
