Warner Bros. Prop Musket Used in the Original “Alamo” Movie. This is an original 1873 Trapdoor Springfield (with all correct markings) was modified by Warner Brothers Studios in the 1960’s for the movie “The Alamo” starring John Wayne. The musket is modified to appear to be a flintlock, with a brass lock and rifle bands to resemble, from a distance, the muskets carried by Santa Anna’s Mexican troops. In today’s movie world, where the extras carry resin props, this musket reflects the bygone era of Hollywood when real ingenuity (and cheap, AT THE TIME) surplus arms were used as props. There is a Warner Bros property mark on the barrel The rifle also has an authentic-looking white leather sling, as used by the Mexican Army at the time. This musket will display very nicely over your mantle or on the wall, and will be quite a conversation piece. Due to it’s use in a famous John Wayne movie, the musket has collector value for both the military firearms collector, and the Hollywood memorabilia collector. This musket should appreciate in value quite nicely!

Virginia Manufactory 1814 Flintlock Musket. In .69 Caliber, the lock is marked “VIRGINIA Manufactory”, “Richmond, 1814”. Stock , lock and barrel are in very good condition, and the musket is complete with cleaning rod. The front band top strap is missing. This was most likely converted to percussion and later re-converted to Flintlock, and it was done expertly. There are faint, illegible regimental markings on top of the barrel. This is a very rare musket that would enhance an advanced collection. It also could be an excellent investment opportunity.

Revolutionary War, (Probable Hessian) Flintlock Musket. This musket does not have any manufacture markings, as was common for the era, however it’s origin, and usage, is most probably German, as the “banana-style” lock (so named due to it’s shape) and .74 caliber is typical of flintlock muskets used by Hessian troops during the Revolutionary War. The entire musket is in excellent condition, all fittings and wood are original, as is the lock, which still functions. It can be said with relative certainty that this musket was used in the Revolutionary War, and as previously stated, due to it’s attributes, was probably carried by Hessian troops. Muskets of this rarity and condition are seldom seen, except in museums, making this an excellent opportunity for an advanced collector to obtain this fine musket.

In its original antique flintlock configuration, this 3rd Model Brown Bess musket is also known as the Short Land Pattern. This example has an interesting provenance. The left side of the butt is stamped: 8 Bat NSM H No 18 HALIFAX. This means the weapon was issued to the Nova Scotia Militia between 1775 and 1800. The lock is appropriately marked: Tower Proof / Warranted. All brass furniture is intact, but the ramrod is missing. The barrel has faint proof marks and the expected pitting and patina. The wood around the sideplate has been repaired. The buttplate lacks one screw and the other is a replacement. The good news is the action works! Barrel measures: 39.25". Overall length 55.25". .72 cal. Blackpowder.

This .75 cal smoothbore Hessian flintlock musket was likely used during the Revolutionary War. Overall length is 58". The action works and the ramrod is present. Overall condition is very good with only one small split in the wood on the left side. Although devoid of marks of manufacture, the teardrop shaped lock and presence of sling swivels indicate its Germanic origin. Due to it's length, shipping costs will be slightly higher than average.
