| Remington WWI US Model 1917, Dated Nov, 1918. Stock # MMR150704SP. Serial # 388xxx. A very nice example of a WWI US Military-issue Model 1917, chambered for .30-06. Often referred to as “Enfields,” this rifle was manufactured by Remington, and has a barrel date of November, 1918. Although the movies always show WWI “Doughboys” carrying Springfields, in point of fact, American GI’s in WWI used more of these than the springfields, and there is now a controversy with Historians, many of whom believe that Sgt. York used a Model 1917! Anyway, back to this rifle, it is in very good condition, wit all the correct US Ordinance markings, and it is composed of a mixture of Remington and Eddystone parts. Finish condition is good, about 90-95%. The dark wooden stock rates about 85-90%, with the normal service dings and dents one expects from a military rifle. Bore condition is very good, and the bolt action cycles smoothly. The military-style deluxe leather sling is in great condition, and it is probably a civilian replacement.
