A super rare Bavarian 1858/1867 Podewils-Lindner Rifle. This Podewils rifle was converted from a muzzle loader to a bolt action percussion by removing the breech plug and screwing on a Lindner conversion, with a dust cover to direct gas forward upon ignition. The rifle fires a paper cartridge ignited by a percussion cap. The conversion was probably done by Amoskeag Manufacturing Co. of Manchester, New Hampshire. It is very similar to the Civil War Lindner Carbine. This rifle has a fair bore, metal has a brown finish all over. The stock is sound but has a small chip out of the right side of the stock behind the lock. The bolt stop screw is missing. AMR-CBJC

US Model 1861 New York Contract Musket, Dated 1862, Civil War. Stock # DJNY-1. No Serial #. Fairly RARE New York Contract US Model 1861 Musket in .58 caliber, and all-original. Marked “US NEW YORK 1862” with the Federal Eagle on the lock, it is also dated 1862 on top of the 40” barrel, which also has the “V-P-Eagle” markings. The buttplate is “US’-marked, and all 3 bands have the “U” mark. The rifle has the correct 2-position flip-up rear sight and the original iron ramrod. The finish is gone from the rifle, there is lots of patina and some mild freckling, the stock has some scratches, but overall, it’s in nice 85-90% condition with a somewhat dark bore, the lock functions correctly with both cocks, and trigger pull is crisp. This is a nice New York Contract 1861 for your collection.
