New Arrival NEW New Arrival Selling with NO RESERVE is this rare and unusual DAISY VL 22 caliber rifle that fired caseless ammunition. The bullet and propellant were self contained but did not utilize a cartridge case, The "cartridge" was placed in the chamber and the propellant was ignited by compressed air at temperatures up to 2000 degrees. The lack of a normal case simplified the design and eliminated the need for a firing pin, extractor or elector. Velocity was 1150 fps out of a 24 inch barrel. Daisy sold these guns as air rifles. Daisy/Heddon was in the business of selling air rifles and pellet/BB guns. The ATF was fine with that, since that's what they were licensed to produce. What the ATF was not fine with was the unlicensed production of firearms. Since the V/L rifle utilized a propellant, the ATF ruled that the V/L rifle was a firearm. Daisy not being licensed to produce firearms, and having no desire to become a manufacturer, ceased production in 1969. Exact dates are fuzzy without additional digging, but it is allegedly a production run of approximately 8 months for a gun that was nearly 8 years in the making. The very chemical compound that should have propelled Daisy/Heddon into the future instead brought about its own demise. This example is one of the Presentation Grade models with a walnut stock but missing the brass plaque. Included with the rifle is an entire case of 5000 rounds of original VL ammunition which must be shipped separately from the rifle at an additional cost. The rifle is topped with a BSA scope. There are a couple of rub marks on the right side of the walnut stock, otherwise it is in very good condition. MSR381812

Sharps 1863 rifle, originally percussion, now converted to 50-70 Center Fire. A beautiful military 3 band rifle with a 30" barrel and numerous inspectors cartouches and marks. The original stock retains the percussion patch box. The metal finish is excellent with a large amount of the original bluing and case colors present. The bore is incredible for a black powder rifle of its age, bright & shiny with strong rifling and absolutely no corrosion or pitting. Converted rifles are much rarer than the carbine conversions with only 1,000 rifles converted compared to 31,000 carbines. A wonderful antique military rifle from the collection of Hank Williams Jr. ARHWJ5070

Remington Mexican Model 1897 Rolling Block Carbine in 7x57mm Mauser. This is one of 7,000 Carbines ordered by the Mexican government during the civil war turmoil in pre WW1 Mexico. These carbines are rarely seen, especially in this good condition. Most of them remained in Mexico and were used, and abused, extensively. The carbine has the Mexican Crest and "REPUBLICA MEXICANA" on the receiver band, and 7 M.M-S.M on the top of the barrel. The original finish has turned to a nice patina with some small areas of blueing and case colors remaining. There is a bit of freckling also present. The stock has not been sanded or refinish and exhibits honest wear and handling marks. The most interesting thing about the stock is that on the left side is carved "Alex R. Wiley 9-9-14" This date of September 9, 1914 was during the occupation of Veracruz, Mexico by U.S. Naval Forces, Marines, and Army troops from April to November of 1914. We feel that this carbine was captured during the occupation and brought back as a war souvenir. Also very lightly carved on the left side is "14 December 1914". There is a script "Le" carved on the right side wrist. The hand guard is cracked behind the rear sight in front of the receiver. The bore is frosted with light pitting but has strong lands & grooves. A rare and seldom seen carbine in original, unmolested condition. MMR380210
